Ms. Erika has been
teaching kids for a really long time. She is 41 years old, and
wears glasses. She has red hair now, but she didn’t always. She is
nice, she likes teaching, and she “works hard, day in and day out.”
She teaches a 2/3 class that is mixed-age. She likes music and
plays, she likes science and studying things, she loves books, and
she likes read-aloud. She has a sense of humor, but she sometimes
gets frustrated when kids don’t listen. In class, she likes to do
reading, writing, math, centers, baking, and “teaching kids
everything she can.” She likes to “help people get what they
need.” She has three people in her family — her son Miles (who used to be in her class) and her husband David (who teaches drama to teenagers at Drake), and she has one dog and one cat (who is sometimes vicious). She likes to eat chocolate. She really likes being a teacher. (Some important things about Erika Smith, according to her students, April 2007) |
