Brookside: Lower Campus: School Events

School Events

Morning Meeting (Wednesday mornings)
Kids, families, siblings welcome! We meet in front of the Library or in the Multipurpose Room depending on the weather. There is a little of everything from announcements to singing and jokes. Join us!

Brookside Bears Barbeque (Fall)
The Brookside Parent Club hosts this annual barbeque at Lower Campus. All staff and families are invited to attend. What a great social event! (2008: date TBA)

Back to School Night (August 27, 2008) 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
This informational night gives parents a chance to meet their child’s teacher and hear what to expect for the coming year. 

Octoberfest (October 11, 2008)
Octoberfest is Brookside School’s biggest fundraiser. Parents from both campuses join forces to create a family-friendly carnival held at Lower Campus. It’s a great day full of games, events, music, food and topped off with the 5th grade Haunted House. (2008: date TBA)

Canned Food Drive (November/December)
Bins are placed in the offices to collect food for the Marin Food Bank. In 2006 over 1,606 pounds of food were collected. Brookside’s generosity helped the Marin Community Food Bank provide healthy, nutritious food to over 3,000 low income and disabled citizens of Marin.

Kindergarten Orientation (January 14, 2009)
Informational night for parents of incoming kindergarteners. Parents have a chance to meet the kindergarten teachers and hear more about the kindergarten program. 

Pennies for Patients (March)
Students bring in change to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Lower Campus Variety Show (Spring)
This yearly event showcases the talents of Lower Campus students and has been hosted by the likes of Shrek and Mr. Incredible. (2009: date TBA)

Brookside Campout (Spring)
Admission can be purchased at the YES Gala to come to the Brookside Campout. Bring your tent and sleeping bag and enjoy a nice evening with a movie and popcorn at the Upper Campus. Parents from both campuses are invited. (2008: TBA)

Open House (June 3, 2009)
Students get the chance to show their parents much of what they’ve worked so hard on all year. It’s also an opportunity to see what their friends have been working on and preview what they will be doing next year. (2008: Wednesday, June 4)
