School Events
Morning
Meeting (daily
– weather permitting)
The principal meets for a few minutes between the first and second
bells with the entire student body and staff in the “Bear’s Lair.”
Students get to hear about the events happening that week and about
the accomplishments of their peers. Each meeting ends with the
Pledge of Allegiance and the Brookside School Pledge. The Brookside
Pledge is: “I promise to do my best today. For myself. For my
family. For my school. And for my community.” Parents and
siblings are welcome to attend!

Walker
Creek (5th
graders -- October)
Outdoor education is one of the rites of passage for our 5th
graders. The Marin County Outdoor School at Walker Creek Ranch is
dedicated to helping elementary school teachers satisfy their
educational goals through quality instruction within a special
learning environment that inspires and motivates students to
achieve an appreciation of the natural world. Using principles of
thematic instruction, the Outdoor School enhances a student’s
critical thinking, processing, and socialization skills. And who
could forget the Barnyard Boogie? (2008: Oct.
13-16)
Canned Food
Drive(November/December)
Bins are placed in the offices to collect food for the Marin Food
Bank. In 2006 over 1,606 pounds of food were collected. Brookside’s
generosity helped the Marin Community Food Bank provide healthy,
nutritious food to over 3,000 low income and disabled citizens of
Marin.

rewarded with prizes along the way. In 2008, the theme was “The
Amazing Ready Race” and our principal, Mrs. Smith, dressed up as a
race car driver and toted a tire around with her for a full
day.
