"How to Apply"
Requirements for Certificated Positions:
- Appropriate, valid California teaching credential
- Credential authorizing instruction for English Learners (SB 2042 credential with embedded EL authorization, LDS, ELD, SDAIE, CLAD or BCLAD certification)
- BTSAparticipation through the District (mandatory for all first and second year teachers)
- Teachers offered positions in the District must be fingerprinted by the District and have those fingerprints cleared by the Department of Justice (DOJ) before the teacher may be placed in the classroom. Actual hire date will be no earlier than the date that fingerprint clearance is received from the DOJ and TB results are submitted.
- Clear TB test result within the last four (4) years.
- All teachers of core subjects must be "Highly Qualified Teachers" and compliant with No Child Left Behind. For further information visit the California Department of Education's website at: http://www.cde.ca.gov/nclb/sr/tq/index.asp
Salary:
- 2007/08 salary range is $46,559 - $80,955 (188 days)
- Annual addition to base salary - $500/yr for MA or $750/yr for Ph.D/Ed.D if hired on or after 7/1/00; or 3% of base salary capped at $1,693/yr if hired before 7/1/00
- Annual addition to base salary for National Board Certification - $500/yr if hired on or after 7/1/00; or 4% of base salary capped at $1,693/yr if hired before 7/1/00
- A maximum of nine (9) years experience is given for initial salary placement which allows placement on Step 10
- Salary will be prorated for contracts less than 1. 0 FTE
- Initial contract status may be "Temporary"
Benefits:
- The District makes a monthly, capped contribution toward a health plan for full-time (1.0 FTE) employees. Employees with contracts less than 1.0 FTE will have a prorated district contribution based on the employee’s FTE.
- Employees with contracts of .5 FTE or more are required to enroll in a health plan, unless they can provide proof that they have other group coverage.

- A completed and signed universal application form, including, as applicable, specific documents listed as required to demonstrate No Child Left Behind compliance
- Cover letter specific to your qualifications for the position
- Résumé
- Copies of your credential, certificates and verification of exams (CSET, MSAT, etc.) passed
- Copies of transcripts showing degrees awarded (front and backside)
- Three letters of recommendation (evaluations are not substitutes for letters of recommendation)
- Applications received after 4:00 p.m. on closing date will not be considered, unless position is listed as "open until filled."
- Incomplete applications will not be considered

Invitations to Interview:
- Applicant packets will be evaluated and invitations to interview will be extended to those candidates who appear to be the most qualified for the position.
- You will be contacted by Human Resources only if you are selected for an interview
- Following an interview, you will be notified of the result
Interview Process:
- Candidates will participate in an oral interview of approximately 25-30 minutes
- Candidates may be asked to prepare and teach a 10-15-minute lesson; typically the lesson will be observed or presented to the Interview Committee and/or a group of students
- References will be confirmed for the final candidate(s)
- Candidates may be asked to compose a piece of writing or complete a local assessment
