The Wade Thomas Library is open to all students—and parents, too! Each class has a scheduled weekly Library Time that includes a read aloud story time. Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade have fun learning about the library and can check out books of their choosing throughout the year! Third Grade, Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade can check out books, and they also learn library skills like finding books using the library catalog and conducting research. These skills will help them to be successful students even after they graduate from Wade Thomas! We also have a computer lab with 24 computers, and the Third through Fifth Grades learn about computers and technology with their teachers.

At Wade Thomas Library we have over 10,000 books in our collection, and we are always adding more to make sure students have the resources they need. The Birthday Book Club is a fun way to help the library and celebrate a student’s birthday! The Wade Thomas Parents Association (WTPA) will send out information about the Birthday Book Club this year.

The library is open during the school week from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Wednesdays 8:00 a.m. to 1:55 p.m.). Students can visit the library before school, during recess, and during lunch. Students can visit the library after school until library closing if they are accompanied by an adult guardian.

Wade Thomas Library’s new librarian is Miss Gravander, and this is her first year at Wade Thomas Elementary. She is so excited to meet everybody and share fun and interesting books. Before coming to Wade Thomas, Miss Gravander worked with kids at the Contra Costa County Library. She received an English degree from Marquette University and a degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Wisconsin.
