Music & Art

Ross Valley School District offers rich programs in music and visual arts, taught by fully credentialed teachers at both the elementary and middle school levels.

Music

Our award-winning music program helps each child discover their natural aptitude for music through developmentally appropriate instruction. Students begin with exposure in the early grades, add basic woodwind and string instruments in 4th grade, and in 5th grade choose a full year of instrumental or choral instruction. At White Hill Middle School, over half of students participate in choir, band, or orchestra, continuing their growth and love of music. Lessons highlight the contributions of diverse composers and global musical traditions, helping students connect across cultures through music.

Visual Arts

The art program (TK–8) inspires creativity, self-expression, and problem-solving while teaching students to use a wide range of media, tools, and techniques. Students explore the elements of art and principles of design, learn to appreciate art’s role in history and contemporary society, and celebrate diverse perspectives through their own work. Projects draw inspiration from multicultural art forms and media, encouraging students to honor their own identities while making connections to the wider world.

Both programs honor and celebrate student work, fostering confidence, creativity, cultural understanding, and a lifelong appreciation of the arts.
