Transitional Kindergarten

The TK classroom provides a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where children learn through purposeful play and hands-on experiences. Rooted in the Preschool Learning Foundations (48–60 months), the curriculum is designed to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of young learners.

In TK, children:

  • Learn through purposeful play and engaging, hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and joy.
  • Build foundational skills in language, literacy, math, science, art, and movement.
  • Develop independence and problem-solving, gaining confidence in themselves as learners.
  • Grow socially and emotionally through meaningful teacher-child interactions and peer collaboration.
  • Experience inclusive and culturally responsive teaching, supporting positive identity and respect for others.
  • Prepare for kindergarten and beyond with the routines, structures, and early academic skills needed for success.

TK nurtures the whole child, laying a strong foundation for future learning while honoring the importance of play in early childhood development. Learn more about the RVSD TK program here.
