Your request may be approved based on:

• Space and staffing availability

• Bullying circumstances (Ed Code 48900(r))

• Parent/guardian employment in RVSD (BP/AR 5111.12)

• Recent moves, when families wish to finish the school year or remain with a promoting class

• Sibling attendance (not guaranteed)

• Plans to move into the district soon

• Other exceptional circumstances

All approvals are subject to the district’s Denial/Revocation conditions.Limited capacity or resources (initial requests only)

• Missed timelines or breaks in continuous enrollment

• Expulsion recommendation (Ed Code 48918)

• False or fraudulent information

• Not meeting Interdistrict Attendance Contract expectations

• Changes in eligibility conditions

• Student needs or conduct that cannot be supported by the district

• Residency misrepresentation

Families receive written notice of denials and at least 10 days’ notice before a revocation.

• Start your request with your district of residence.
• Submit your request March 1–April 1 each year.
• Approved permits must be renewed annually within the same window.
• If you move out of RVSD during the school year, submit a permit request within 10 days of relocating.
• Students must attend school in their district of residence until both districts approve the transfer.
• Once approved, families must complete the Interdistrict Attendance Contract within 30 days.

• Start the request with RVSD.
• Requests must be submitted and approved annually.
• The receiving district may set its own submission deadlines.
• Military families may not be denied transfers out.
• Transfers may be limited under certain fiscal or attendance conditions (Ed Code 48307).

Current-year requests or those beginning within 15 days:
Decision within 30 days.

• Future-year requests:
  Decision no later than 14 days after school begins.

Notifications follow Ed Code 48985 translation requirements.

A permit may be denied or revoked for:

• An Interdistrict Transfer Committee will meet within 30 days and make a recommendation to the Board.
• Families receive a final written decision within 10 days after the Board acts.
• Denial appeals may be taken to the County Board within 30 days.
• Revocations are not eligible for County Board appeal.
