Service Learning Field Trip

Hal Brown Park at Creekside, Kentfield

Students planting plants On a chilly February morning, forty-two 2nd graders and a dozen of their parents spent the morning at Hal Brown Park along the marshy creek. We all met the friendly county park leader who showed us step-by-step, how to plant little plants into the ground. We then worked in small groups to dig holes, scoop out mucky dirt and replace it with good soil, and put about 80 young native plants into the ground. The marsh here has been under restoration for eight years. Beneath the serene silhouette of Mt. Tamalpais, we were able to contribute in the restoration of this important habitat in our community.  Way to go 2nd grade!
