COVID-19 Health and Safety Guidelines for Schools & Site Safety Plans
Following Marin Health and Human Services (MHHS) Guidelines for Schools, each of our schools and our district office will continue to operate under a Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSPP) / COVID-19 Safety Plan (CSP). Specific information regarding each school campus can be found in their site’s respective plan, originally developed, and revised as needed, by the site’s SSSPP Task Force (teachers, administrators, parents, staff), and reviewed/approved by Marin County Office of Education (MCOE).
COVID-19 Safety Plans
Each site’s COVID Safety Plan is being updated to meet the guidelines for the 2021 - 2022 school year and are linked below.
We will continue to follow guidance from our public health partners to ensure that our schools are safe for our students, staff, and families.
Daily Health Screening Reminder
Students and staff are to conduct a daily health screening self-assessment before leaving home and are to stay home when exhibiting the symptoms of any kind of illness, especially any of the symptoms listed below (even if the symptoms are believed to be caused by something other than illness):
- Cough
- Shortness of breath / difficulty breathing
- Loss of smell or taste
- Fever of a 100.4° F or above
- Chills
- Body ache
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Congestion / runny nose
- Sore throat
- Diarrhea
- Nausea or vomiting
Students who exhibit any symptoms of illness will need to be picked up from school, and the respective decision tree protocols as outlined below will be implemented.
COVID-19 Testing
We are working with MCOE, MHHS, and CDPH to provide onsite testing opportunities for symptomatic students and staff. All parents/guardians and staff have been informed about how to get, administer, and report the results related to the testing program.

- Earlier this year, the U.S. government began a campaign to make at-home COVID-19 tests more accessible to the public. If you’ve used up your complimentary supply, or weren’t aware of the initial promotion, place your order for four free COVID-19 tests by visiting COVIDtests.gov. You’ll receive them in the mail. Please note: There is a limit of two orders per household, equating to eight total at-home tests. If you need help placing an order for your at-home tests, please call 1-800-232-0233 (TTY 1-888-720-7489). Every household in the U.S. is eligible for this promotion, so take advantage today.
- Health Insurance providers must reimburse for the cost of up to eight at home tests per month (work with your healthcare provider additional for details).
COVID-19 Test Reporting
For ALL tests done at home for students and staff, results are to be reported to the school or work site and should be reported to Primary Health. This includes home tests provided by the school or those purchased/obtained elsewhere. Please report both positive and negative results. If you have not yet registered in Primary Health, you may do so by clicking here. Contact covidresponse@rossvalleyschools.org if you have questions or need assistance.
Anyone who is NOT a student or staff member in RVSD, should use the Marin County Self-test Reporting form for reporting at-home COVID-19 test results.
COVID-19 Vaccination
RVSD has complied with all Public Health Orders regarding vaccinations and vaccination status verification. All required reportable data has been posted on the District website by October 1, 2021, and will be updated as required by Marin County Public Health.
Visit the Vaccine Finder webpage to view available clinics and schedule an appointment. Remember, vaccine recipients between the ages of 5 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to receive a vaccine.
If unable to find a vaccination clinic open at a time that works with your schedule, more options for COVID-19 vaccine clinics are available by visiting California Department of Public Health’s MyTurn COVID and flu vaccination scheduling website.
Once your child has received their 2nd shot in the series, please provide a copy of the vaccination record to your child’s school office. If you wish to decline to provide your child’s vaccination record, please let your child’s school office know that.
Visitors/Volunteers
Non-essential visitors, including parent volunteers will be limited. Essential workers will be required to adhere to all health and safety guidelines. Any substitutes, contractors, visitors, and volunteers working directly with students should be fully vaccinated. For more information about volunteering in our schools, click here.
