New Student Registration Information
Dear Ross Valley Families,
Welcome to the Ross Valley School District! We are pleased you have chosen Ross Valley to provide your child/ren’s education.
If you have a child currently attending school in the Ross Valley School District, there is no need to re-register him/her. Only students who are not currently attending a school in the District are required to register.
See below for more information about new student registration.
In-person registration is completed at the student’s school of residence. For TK-5th grade, if you are unsure which school (Brookside, Hidden Valley, Manor, and Wade Thomas) is your child’s School of Residence, for attendance boundary information click here. All 6th-8th graders register at White Hill Middle School.
School Offices are closed for Summer Break and will re-open Monday, August 10 from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Since staff may be in meetings, please call the school first to be sure someone will be there to help you. In the meantime, complete online registration and download, complete, and print the required forms as well as gather the required documents for in-person registration so you are ready to finalize registration once the school offices reopen.
For the 2020-21 school year, a child must have his/her 5th birthday on or before September 1, 2020, to be eligible to attend Kindergarten.
Students currently attending Transitional Kindergarten in Ross Valley do not need to re-register.
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Eligibility
For the 2020-21 school year, a child must have his/her 5th birthday between September 2 and December 2, 2020, to be eligible to attend Transitional Kindergarten.
Based on the number of registrations verified prior to the COCID-19 outbreak, we anticipated having a TK class on the Brookside campus with the potential of TK/K combination classes at multiple sites. The TK program has remained under development for the 2020-21 school year, with program implementation (including location/s) dependent upon the total number of students who enroll. As of August 13, 2020, based on all registrations received to date, it has been determined that for the 2020-21 school year, TK students at Brookside, Hidden Valley, and Manor will attend their respective school of residence, and they will be in a combined class with Kindergarteners. Due to Kindergarten at Wade Thomas being at capacity, the Wade Thomas TK students will attend Manor. For questions related to TK, please contact your school of residence.
New Students to TK – 8th Grades Registration Process
Our registration process includes online as well as hard copy and in-person components.
In continuing our efforts to reduce paper consumption and to be service oriented and efficient, we use SchoolMint, an online enrollment system. SchoolMint helps to reduce the time parents/guardians spend completing required school forms for one or more children and can be accessed via a computer or smartphone. For parents/guardians who do not have computer, online, or smartphone access, technology is available at the school sites. Because not all required registration items can be provided via SchoolMint, some of the registration process will continue to be required via hard copy and in person at the student’s school of residence. For parents/guardians who do not have printer access, hard copies are available at the school sites.
Student Registration Requirements & Elementary School Enrollment Capacity
To assist the District in enrollment, staffing, and facilities planning, please complete the registration process by March 1 or as soon as possible. Because many elementary grade levels and schools in the Ross Valley School District are impacted, a student who registers once a school of residence is at capacity, the student will be assigned to another District school where space is available. Any reassignments will be determined prior to the student’s first day of attendance. For middle school, because White Hill is our only 6th-8th grades school, students in these grades are not subject to overflow.
For the 2020-21 school year, online Registration began Monday, January 13, 2020, and In-Person Registration began Wednesday, February 5, 2020. A completed registration packet includes the online Student Registration Forms on SchoolMint and the In-Person Forms and Documentation submitted to the school of residence. We do not accept registration items via fax, mail, or email. Please note that only completed registration packets are accepted and each is date/time stamped, which verifies the registration process is finalized.
