RVSD Equity

Parent Equity Task Force

  • The RVSD Parent/Guardian Task Force is a partnership between RVSD staff and parent representatives from our five schools. Facilitated by Epoch Education equity trainers, the group meets monthly to engage in conversation about racial equity in RVSD. The group has identified three major actions for 2020-21 and has divided into subcommittes based on those actions.

    • Parent Education/Communication - The focus of this committee is on the development of a parent equity newsletter which will include:
      • Updates on RVSD equity work, particularly the work of the Task Force
      • Tips for how parent/guardians can talk with their children about racial equity
      • A curated list of equity resources
      • Stories from the district about
    • Community Resources - The focus of this committee will be the partnership with county organizations engaged in equity work (including the Archie Williams High School Parent Equity Team) and identifying schools/districts that are doing this work and can serve as models for RVSD.
    • Elevating Voices - The focus of this committee will be tgather the equity-related experiences—both positive and challenging—of Ross Valley families and staff so we can:
      • Highlight the rich diversity and multitude of experience we have in the district
      • Better understand the challenges we are seeking to address in our equity work
      • Serve as a “call to action” to inspire parents and staff to commit to equity work
      • Learn from what is already being done—there is lots to celebrate!

Parents/Guardians who wish to join the Task Force should email Julia Wolcott, Director of Curriculum and Instruction or their site principal.
